Our Thoughts:
The Giro Xen is designed with the trail rider in mind. This is not a roadie helmet with a visor stuck on it and sold as a trail riding helmet, this is a helmet that is designed from the bottom up for trail riding. The Xen has more protection at the rear of the helmet which protects the back of the head more effectively than “regular” helmets. The Xen might offer extra protection but it does not come at the cost of added weight, the Xen is very light (weights vary depending on size) and never feels too heavy on the head. The Xen is very well ventilated and keeps you cool even on really hot days thanks to the large vents. In the rough stuff the Xen stays nice and snug on the head and does not bobble around at all thanks to the Roc Loc. This is a great trail riding helmet, but as all helmets are concerned make sure you try it on and have it fitted for you before you take it home.
