Mace MX Comp II Glove

Test Rating: 9 out of 10

Suggested Retail Price: $25.00 CAD

Description Of The Product:  This glove comes in four sizes S, M, L, and XL.  It is also available in three colours; Red, Black, and White.  For this product test we are testing a white pair of gloves, size L.  The palm of the glove is made of synthetic leather and is lightly padded where it would be in contact with the grips.  On the thumb it has a small section of terry cloth for wiping sweat, and there is a brake grip on the pointer finger for good contact with the brake leaver.  On the cuff there is a hook-and-loop wrist closure so that you can adjust the fit.  On the top of the glove there is breathable material for air circulation and PVC armour on the fingers for protection.

Our Thoughts:  With the price of everything going up these days, it is hard to believe that you can get a well built full fingered glove for trail riding for 25 bucks. That’s exactly what you get with the Mace MX CompII glove.  These gloves are well built and have a very comfortable fit.  With so many different types of gloves at your local bike shop it is very hard to pick the one that is right for you.  There are fancier gloves out there, some of which are made by Mace as well but the MX II glove is a great trail riding glove that is comfortable.  The fact that it does not have some of the hard plastic or carbon fibre protection on it makes it very breathable which is nice on those hot summer days.  I found the glove very breathable but yet offered excellent protection.  It is nice to have the terry cloth on the thumb to wipe off sweat, and the closure on the wrist is very well built.  I love the wrist closure because there is nothing worse than having to wrestle with your glove to put them on and then take them off, and not once did the closure come undone while riding.  I ride a lot and run grips that have a very pronounced pattern so I tend to go through a lot of gloves.  These gloves are very durable and have not fallen apart unlike other gloves I have used in the past.  They have just enough padding in the palm so that you have a great feel on the grips, but yet they are still very durable.  There is nothing worse than an over padded palm which numbs the feel of the trail, or a thinly padded palm which falls apart in a few weeks.  None of which this glove has.  There is a brake grip on the pointer finger which surprisingly did not come off after several  rides and washings, but it would have been nice to have one on the next finger for those two finger braking situation.  If you are looking for a great glove which could easily have been sold 10 or even 20 dollars more, definitely pick up the Mace MX Comp II glove.
